Does anyone know how you get this watch face? Is it for series 3 only? I’ve looked through the watch app but can’t find it anywhere! :(.

The main point of the watch face is it includes an LTE signal meter. Other than that and the red hands it’s basically the same as ‘utility’.

it seems to me to be different. The second hand is inset not sweep. I can't get utility to display numbers 0-60 like that. I haven't it yet and so can't see how it can be customized, but it is more like the chrono face than utility?

Seriously? I knew it was S3 only but didn’t realize just LTE. Things like this make me like Apple a bit less. I mean I understand the Hermes and Nike faces but making the non LTE an unloved stepchild is “wrong.”
It's practically the same thing as the utility watch face but with LTE signal dots. Why would you need LTE signal dots on a non-LTE series watch?

It’ll be ok...

Never was in doubt.

Nah. I’ve had utility face on my AW since 2015. It’s similar to utility, yes. It’s similar to chronograph too. But it’s really a morph of the two faces sans the LTE dots which could be designed as a configurable complication.

I like the new face. It’s something different that is also traditional unlike most AW faces. Truth is Apple should open up faces to devs. It’s really cheesy of Apple to restrict this as they do.

Funny how apple kept the dots for reception on the Watch yet they changed it to bars on the phone. Nice continuity Apple.

Ios11= hot mess

What??? It's just a Utility face with red hands and .. drum rolls .. LTE signal. Why Apple should include this on regular watch that doesn't have LTE? So someone can blame Apple they don't have green dots on non-LTE watches?

You think like such a consumer.

How else will Apple fleece money out of users if they unlock everything for older device users?

The Explorer face is similar to the Utility face, with a few minor differences. The markers are different, there is no dedicated date display, small seconds hand rather than large sweep, LTE signal strength indicator, and the hands are colored differently. Yes, it's only available on LTE models. Personally, I'm using the Explorer face just because it's new, but really guys it's kind of overrated. You're not missing much. There's actually less customization of the Explorer face...you can't change the color of the small seconds hand (always red) and there's only three choices for the main hands (red, white or red and white).

Except the series 3 and series 3 LTE are both current. It should be enough that the LTE has more RAM, more standard band options. Not including a watch face in a standard model is so petty IMHO. But it is what it is. This is Tim Cook’s Apple.

And if Apple opened up watch faces to devs it would make 30% on each purchase. So it’s still a fleecable moment for Apple. It could even limit face development to a handful of quality devs to insure good design and not “fart faces.”

Not to my eyes. Similar just like it’s similar to the chronograph face, but not a copy as people here say. See my earlier comment above on this.

LTE has more memory, not RAM.

Write a letter to Tim Cook if you’re that concerned. You’re complaining to the wrong crowd.

They're never going to open up watch faces to Dev's... It would dilute the value of the faces they include with the Herme's models, etc.. That ship has sailed.

Right. Thanks for that correction. Meant storage.

Yeah, don’t really care that much— just reacting to the answer of OPs question. I’m sure Apple is well aware and doesn’t care either until they do. One day Phil Schiller will take the stage and announce Apple found an amazing way for us to buy faces.

The Hermes face is trademarked. No legal way for a dev to copy it. Also people spending $1200 or whatever for the Hermes version are doing so because it’s Hermes. OTOH I like the design but would never pay $$$$ for it.

The ship hasn’t sailed. It hasn’t even launched yet. There will be a face store one day.

I didn't mean to imply that faces would be sold that duplicated the Hermes, just that the more faces are in existence, the less exclusive "special" faces become.

Your point is fair though, and I suppose anything is possible.

Part of me feels like if Apple really cared to cash in on faces they'd already have done so. A face store and dedicated team to review and approve faces wouldn't be a difficult thing to spin up if they were interested in going there.

That said, how they have opened up the ability to easily and quickly make a "face" from photos could be seen as a toe in the water.

How do you get the Explorer face? I have an LTE version and it's not in my faces.
Never mind! I found it.

I don’t see the green dots as a complication on the explorer face. Do the dots only pop up when your watch is actively on lte?
