Any idea what this might be?

I had an accident with my phone where it accidentally fell out of a 2nd floor window and landed on the pavement, since then there is this weird display on the left hand side, anyone know what it might be or if it is repairable?

The pictured phone has a dynamic island so it's a broken OLED screen, not an LCD, but yeah, you're basically right. I was also thinking of suggesting he pick up a bottle of dandruff shampoo to keep the replacement pristine, but I won't because that would be mean. 😂
