Interested in getting one for my gf for christmas. I was upset that it didnt have a headphone jack in it but assuming she is on an apple device, she can play anything on it right? For example stream youtube audio off her ipad to the homepod?

She owns a salon and basically streams music off her ipad all day from the youtube app. This salon is in japan so its super tiny. I figured a homepod would be a good boost for her salon.

But a regular bluetooth speaker can do this too and has a headphone jack. So what exactly should i be aware of before buying one of these? what limitations should I be aware of?

This is probably not an issue for your girlfriend since she is using her iPad to relay music. But the HomePod works best if you are paying for an Apple Music subscription. It’s kind of a bummer for people who want to give a HomePod to someone who isn’t a subscriber.

I started with a Home Pod Mini, and when I was setting it up to my Apple TV 4K, I found out I couldn't set them as the default speaker. I wanted to enhance the volume of my TV, and having to do Airplay all the time was kind of a deal breaker, so I took them back. I ended up getting an original one and I've been enjoying it.

So the original can be used as a tv speaker but the mini cant?
