I know I can get Plenty on the app store. I'm thinking in the actual newsstand area? It's there I might aswell use the real estate.

What real estate? Newsstand is just a folder. If there are plenty apps available that do what you want in the App Store but are not Newsstand compatible just buy them and put them in a folder.
 
It would be nice if The Daily also works on the iPhone and can be put in the Newsstand. But, I'm sure the experience is better with larger real estate.

One interesting note that some newspapers don't go to newsstand. I downloaded USA today and I can't/wouldn't put it in the newsstand. I also have a bunch of magazine subscriptions on my iPad that aren't in there. It would be nice if it was controlled by the user and we can edit it as we please.
