I'm a musician using Ableton Live, NI Maschine and Reason.

I know a lot of people go for the dual hard drive route having a SSD for boot and running their programs while the other drive - usually in the Optibay, contains samples and stuff.

Can someone give me advice as to how to go about doing this? Or are there any tutorials on doing this? I'm considering getting Logic which takes up a hefty amount of space. I'm also looking into Kontakt as well.

I have a Samsung 830 256GB SSD so I have a good amount of space on it, but I'm trying to maximize space and performance.

Thanks.

I suggest you look into that for sure, partition and allow the computer to perform faster, more efficiently -- allowing creative flow with more ease!
