Sorry for adding another NAS question to the mix. I just ordered the rMBP 2.6/512/16 as a replacement for a hackintosh and a 13" 2010.

So I'm thinking through my storage options. I'm moving to the MBP so I can actually get stuff done when I'm not at my office. I went with the 512G so I won't always be tied down to an external drive. Work on my projects, them dump them off to the NAS and other backup options.

But, I thinking I'm hunting for a storage drive / NAS. I want to backup and access my data remotely (NAS), but if I'm sitting at the office, right there next to it, I'd love to get some better transfer speeds by directly plugging into it.

If I'm rocking a raid1 setup, then those speeds should be much more managable than wifi (no 1G ether for me).

Make sense? I'm still new to thinking through NAS's, so educate with love.

I'm not super interested in custom building a freenas, I'm looking forward to freedom from fidding with my hackintosh, and don't want to add in extra hassle.

Why do I need the storage? What's my workflow? I'm doing a lot of video editing and motion design as of late, for work and for freelance. But, I'm definitely not a "pro". My overall projects w/ everything are usually less that 200G. So I think a 4TB total solution would hold me off for a long time. I've only got about 1.5 TB total now, and I need to do some spring cleaning.

Anywho, That's a lot to read over, let me know if more info helps?!

Buying the rMBP was a stretch on the budget, so I'm fine working my way into a proper solution.
