Anyone have experience using a new 8 core Mac Pro system? I just ordered one and am wondering what real world usage is offering. I suppose I'm just second guessing myself for paying more for the extra cores. I ordered it in the
two 2.26GHz Quad-Core version, 12Gs, 2 optical drives and the ATI graphics option. Let me know how it's going. BTW, I'll be using this for 3D CAT-Scan guided, dental implant imaging- volumetric 3-dimensional imaging of human skulls. Among other fun things!

I just got mine a couple weeks ago and love it. I'm not using any software comparable to what you plan to, but I think you can expect some good things for it. Especially when SL hits and your software is (hopefully) optimized for the platform.

I've got the same system, but with 8GB, 3 optical drives (bluray and an external non-riplocked drive), and a GTX 285. Fantastic machine so far.

haha congrats bro on your new purchase.
Keep us posted on how the MAC is treating you. Any pics?
I think the new MAC will keep your patients smiling? grinning?:D
