Hi

I'm finally thinking of getting an iPhone. Now usually whenever I buy anything like this, a new model comes out weeks after I buy it - bought an old ipod a couple of days before the touch came out. Just wondering - will the current iphone I could get in the UK just now be the most up to date one for a while or is a new one due out soon?

Many thanks

Martin

I always love your answers, excellent attitude:cool: Straight to the point, thats why i always look for your replies on allot of topics:)

Back on the topic: I recently decided to wait for the new iphone, which will probably be released in June maby Jule. If you need it right now...buy it, if not then wait for it:) You can also buy it now, and follow the rumors, sell it right before it comes out and buy the new one when it comes out. You will lose some money, time and it will be a hassle but then you got the best of both options:)

Wow your right, you do buy right before the new version!

Yes. June 2 is the rumored date for Apple's WWDC, where it is likely they will be unveiling a new iPhone. It sounds like you are not desperate for one right now, so I would wait if I were you.

Ah, back when I was thinking of purchasing my first iPhone... It was not long after the release of the original iPhone that I decided I wanted one. However, knowing this was Apple's first cellular device, they would quickly (within a year) come out with a new one. So I waited... And waited... And waited some more... until it finally came! I was able to snatch one from an AT&T store after about two months of, "Is it here yet?" "We just sold out... Again". After playing around with my new iPhone, I realized what a mistake it would have been to buy the original iPhone.

So another year comes and goes, and a new iPhone is in the works. Millions of people (including me) will be jealous of the newest technological phenomenon, the third iPhone. This year the press might have learned a thing or two about Apple, and start getting the facts straight.

I can personally guarantee that if Apple does release a new phone, you will be sorry you did not wait. You can probably expect the next iPhone to be slimmer, have more HDD space, expanded RAM, superior graphics, a longer life battery, an improved camera, a slimmed down flash player, and something only Apple can think of.

You may not have realized the buyers guide, it's useful too.

Simple version: Uh... Yeah, It'll be here soon... Just wait dude.

June 2? I've read ton of rumors but I guess I missed that one.

I wonder if the next iPhone will add a button between the "up volume" and "down volume" toggle to give it a similar "no look" and "no unlock" interface as the new shuffle...

I totally hope June because that means our current iPhones are still on warranty! Fix 'em up and then sell them!

Actually, the new shuffle is actually the next iPhone. Well, the cellular hardware is inside, but it doesn't function as a phone just yet. Apple is going to release iPhone OS 3.0 here in a bit which will "activate" the shuffle's phone features. :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Your kidding right?

Well, contrary to upaymeifixit, I'm actually really happy I purchased my original iPhone. I bought the original on its release date (1st in line at the Apple store) and I bought the second one on its release date as well.

Looking back, I'm happy as hell that I bought the first one. A whole year with an amazing phone is nothing to regret. Sure, I had to buy the new one but I moved on knowing that that's just how life works and if you spend your time waiting for the next big thing, you'll never be happy with your current purchase. It's something that you definitely have to learn in the Apple world.

However, knowing that the new iPhones are so close... I would wait.

I don't think the new iPhone will be worth buying. It will have the same software as the current iPhones.

The only difference will be the hardware and I know that Apple will not go back to the aluminum back because that causes reception problems.

I'm not even sure if a new iPhone will come out.

Just grab a 3G and wait for 3.0 later.:)

Rumour has it that the current iPhones price will drop in may, In the uk. It's up to you really - You could wait till june or july and get a new upgraded iPhone or you could wait till May and get a current gen iPhone at a lower price.

I heard the possibility of the addition of a pull out QWERTY keyboard. Who knows if it's true though. It makes since considering those blackberry users who won't switch over due to the lack of a tactile physical keyboard.

I know if it's true. It isn't. To do so would be admitting that the touchscreen concept does not work. It will NEVER happen.

I think with 3.0 making the landscape keyboard available all over the phone, it'll be easy to switch.
