iMac-Display-New.jpg

Tho I have M1 Mac mini, I'm still waiting for High End iMac to replace it. But it seems 14/16 inch MBP might release in Oct, 2021 which means a High End iMac might release in 2022! Their transition speed from Intel to Apple Silicon is kinda slow to my perspective. M1 is great but not enough for me and I dont know how long I need to wait for it. Of course, the chip shortage may affect their 2 years transition but still, if Apple announce only 3 products later this year without iMac, then I am disappointed.

But any news or rumors so far?

You’ve pretty much summarised all the rumours. They’re still much less than half way through their transition process so I’m confident they’ll hit their 2 year target.

I’m actually in the same boat as you but can’t really complain too much as they’re well on track. I guess it’s inevitable that their higher end products would be last to transition. They can’t really shove an M1 in the larger iMacs as it won’t be faster than the most recent 27” Intel iMac and there would be a backlash to that.

I have a fully spec'ed Late-2013 27-in iMac and I'm also waiting for that.

I've almost succumbed to the Mac Mini, then almost succumbed to the new iMac, and while the M1 does a great job, I really need more than that. The wait is long, but I feel like it's going to be worth it.

Reactions: Never mind
I agree that it's kind of disappointed that the only Macs on Apple Silicon so far are low-end devices. It seems like the Pro stuff won't come until late this year or earlier next year.
