I ask myself if Apple is/was waiting for Intel Ice Lake Y CPUs and got burned in the great Intel-10nm-die-shrinking fiasco.

They were announced over a year ago.

Maybe the updated Air was some sort of stop-gap solution so that Apple has at least something to show for?
