I've just started using Aperture and got the 1.5.1 update, but it still feels dog slow. Being as I've just started using it I'm dealing with a library of less than 100x 15-20MB raw images so I'm not exactly pushing the limit. Adjustments and previews seem to take ~5 seconds to take effect and the adjustment sliders are almost unusable because of the lag. I wish the free download had been available before I bought it, I think I would have passed.

I've tried running it on both a G5 1.8GHz iMac with 2GB, and an Intel Mini Core Duo 1.83GHz with 2GB. Neither of these are spectacular compared to a Mac Pro but should be usable. I've shut down any background apps and widgets and set the performance to maximum in the energy saver, so I think I'm giving Aperture all the resources I've got.

Has anyone found any Aperture preference settings that help performance - I'm running with the defaults right now. Any other tips for wringing more performance?
