I'd like to JB iOS 9.0.2 for pen testing. I'd do iOS 8 for ease but I have to buy a new iPad Mini 4 which obviously has 9.0.2.

Any of you have Pangu or TaiG JB working on iOS 9.0?

Other thing I worry about is even if we can JB 9.0 many of the pen testing apps might not work yet.

Only 8.4.1 right?

And if you buy a new iPad at the store with 9.0.2 there is no way to install 8.4.1 right?

8.4 and below. There is a rumored 8.4.1 jailbreak in the works, but as of yet I don't believe its been finalized or released.

And no, there is no way to install 8.4.1 as it's no longer being signed, and if it's an "s" device (6s or 6s+) there never was a version < 9.0 for those devices, so it's completely impossible with those (not that it isn't with the others as well, again since 9.0 and below are no longer being signed, only 9.0.1 and 9.0.2).

So to clarify if I buy a new iPad mini 4 there's no way to force install 8.4.0 on it via iOS file browser etc because Apple isn't signing it anymore?

What about rolling back an iPad Mini 2 with 8.4.1 to 8.4.0? No go?

No way what-so-ever to roll back. You can't install firmware (ipsw/dmg) via any means other than iTunes, that I'm aware of, at least for these newer devices -- I'm sure if there was any other way, it'd be well documented, or all over as many folks would love to go back to older versions for personal reasons, or for the ability to jailbreak.

For the iPad mini 4 specifically, there's nothing to roll it back to, even if older OSes were still being signed. They shipped with 9.0 so there isn't an earlier iOS for the mini 4.
Because Apple isn't signing anything earlier than 9.0.1 at this point, there's no way to roll back earlier than that on any device that's been upgraded to 9.0.2.

So I have to buy a used device wth 8.4 or wait for a 9.0.2 jailbreak which is unlikely to happen this year.

I saw 9.0 was done but he's not sharing it as usual.

As stated, there is no way.

There is no Apple provided way to do this, there is no third party solution.

If there was I would have two iPhone 5's back on iOS 6.1 right now. But there isn't.

Even with a jailbreak there isn't.

Not sure how to be much clearer than that.

I'm sure with 9.1 being around the corner (maybe a month away) there won't be anything until that time. Pointless to burn exploits, knowing 9.1 will be released around the time the new iPad drops.

I don't get this. Cydia for iOS 9.0....? We don't need to JB to install Cydia? Would this let me install the pen-testing tools I need to?

(Cydia Installer for any iOS version – including iOS 9.0.2, iOS 9.0.1 and iOS 9.1 beta) - See more at: http://pangu8.com/cydia/#sthash.GRpgcCPU.dpuf

All we need to do is install the "Semi Jailbreak"?

There still isn't a jailbreak for iOS 9 and anyone claiming to have one are lying, except for a very few people, no one has been able to JB their devices

What's this 8.4.1. Semi Jailbreak people are talking about?

http://pangu8.com/841.html

This is a legit site and they are saying Cydia can be installed on

and they are also saying a "semi JB" is available.

iOS 9.0.2 Jailbreak is available with Semi Jailbreak online script. Mechanism of this Jailbreak is same with iOS 9 & 9.0.1 Jailbreak. But There is some modifications available with iOS 9.0.2 Semi Jailbreak.

However SemiJB is a partial Jailbreak. Don't upgrade your device to iOS 9.0.2 if you have already jailbroken your device with untethered jailbreak tool such as TaiG 2 or PPJailbreak. You can only available this partial Jailbreak method if you are an iOS 9.0.2 user.

You don't want to download Windows/Mac tools for this process. Please visit this page from your iOS 9.0.2 device to jailbreak it. Cydia is also available for iOS 9.0.2.

I do wonder how a 68020 does not accept the fact there is no JB for 9.x or provides bogus information.....

The official pangu site: http://en.pangu.io

The Semi-JB is bogus last I checked and installing random scripts from shady website is extremely unwise.

Do some more research and be careful what you post as it can get people in to real problems with softbricking, losing JB's and opening their devices up to security risks.

So funny. I always joke with my mum that she never updates her iPad Mini etc. Well because she never updates I just discovered that her iPad is still on iOS 8.4!

HaHa so now I can JB her iPad Mini and use it for pen testing etc. I'll just buy her the same one new and then when iOS 9.1 JB comes around hopefully in November swap back with her.

Sometimes it pays to have analog mums :)
