in a great place
So today i went in and bought my macbook. 2.0 version and got a $100 dollar education discount! Not the $50 like online. Was wondering if anyone else that bought theirs IN STORE got the same deal. I probably wasnt supposed to get the $100, but i wasnt going to say anything!;):D

Ooooh, if I could get it for $1199 with my student discount then I'd probably go out and buy it right now, then I could use the extra cash to buy myself a mighty mouse and an ice cream. ;)

lol, I'm being serious too.

well go give it a shot! what are you waiting for. Go get your icecream!

If I am interested in the 2.4 which is 1599, if I go in the store to purchase is it $50 or $100 discount? Online it says it was $100 for the 2.4 and only $50 for the 1299. Any one else verify how much discount for the 1599 model instore?

The instore discount is the same as the online discount. So it will be $100 for the high end new MB.

That's why its odd that the OP got $100 off instead of the $50 he was supposed to get.

dam why is it so expensive in canada! $1399 for the low end mb and $1749 for the high end model!!! this suckssss

that sucks they only gave me the 50 dollar discount it was better than nothing i guess

they told me $50 at my local apple store.

They told me $50 too... but I think thats for the 2.0ghz model. The 2.4ghz model is $100 and they gave it to me. I just pulled up the Edu. Apple Store online at one of the nearby macbooks on display and the sales rep immediately obliged.

They told me the same thing when I called the Apple store.

I got the $100 education discount on my 2.4 MacBook earlier today at the Apple store.

yes, but i got 100 off the 2.0 verison. not the 2.4. I was just wondering if anyone else had this and if it was just an in store- online- difference thing they did.

anyway. guess i got lucky!:D

If you look at your receipt its because you accidently got the "Individual Educator" discount, and not "Education Discount".

I got it too :)

Well, just got back from the Apple store and they gave me the $100 discount on the 2.0 model. :D

I asked 2 people and they both told me $100. I wasn't going to say no to that!

To the people getting $100 discounts on the 2.0, what are your receipts saying as far as the educational discount.

Mine just says: Individual Educator ($100).

They apply the education discount at the very end of the checkout process(right before you hand over your cc) and I'm pretty sure they just type it in manually.

That's interesting. There doesn't seem to be a distinction between teachers or "educators" and students on the apple store site. They are all lumped together under one link which gives you the $50 discount.

So this $100 in store thing is weird. Maybe some stores arent following orders correctly and are still giving the $100 as they used to for the old macbooks?

mine says individual educator too. and thus the mystery is solved.:)

yeah she got my edu code out of a book by the register. it obviously wasnt a 'new'book of codes.
so i think you are right about the old macbook codes.

Oh, just in case you were wondering tmac, I didn't get my ice cream. I was too excited and rushed home to unbox my new MacBook. hehe :p

The high end MacBook is CAN$1749 in Canada which is US$1474.
It sells for US$1599 in the US so isn't it US$125 cheaper in Canada?
