Any one know how much father a 300mm lens can...

Shoot than a 200mm lens? Just wondering, if it can shoot like 30 feet father I may just get the 55-300mm lens.

Oh, I usually do a lot of drag racing shots and am usually on the top end. It's about 3000 feet away but I usually take the shot when they're doing 200 and the chutes come out and they're about 1000 feet from me. Thanks

This might help a bit. I own both a 200mm and a 300mm prime and there is a noticeable difference in the focal lengths in usage.

lens focal length and working distance scales linearly and predictably. if you have to stand 20' away with a 100mm lens, then you will stand 40' away with a 200mm lens.

so if you're 1000' away with a 200mm, you can be 1500' away and get the same framing with a 300mm.
