Thinking of selling mine to Apple for $80 and picking up a refurbished SE2. Don’t really know what the security update situation will look like going forward, and the upgrade isn’t too much especially considering it being something I wear each day. Anyone else moving to a newer watch?

Yes, just not sure yet. I'll wait until this Fall to compare the Series X with the Ultra 2...then buy whichever is the better value.

Then my SE (1 Gen) will go into the junk drawer to live out it's days right next to my Series 1 AW.

Basically ^this.

Going to wait and see what the new lineup will be in September. Not going to go to SE2 just for security updates as I think the Watch is the least vulnerable device of all my Apple gizmos: have not heard of Watch hacks, would be a tricky hack to implement if one exists, and I would need to be on someone’s radar to be targeted, imo.

Vitals might be useful. Stacks might be useful but have doubts. Have used a Watch for years without these, can wait a bit longer to get them, until the SE truly needs to be replaced (battery, screen busted). Nothing else is must have for me with 11.

Since communication between Watch and iPhone are encrypted, not worried about Health data going to phone. I generally don’t install apps to Watch, so that makes for a small vector for bad guys to get a toe hold.

SE2 does not bring anything new to the table, so maybe an X, maybe a new SE will be introduced? Pickup a 9 for cheap before that gets pushed out?

I'm holding out for September. I think comparing the sale prices (at least in the UK), the 9 is better value against an SE 2nd gen. The only real must have feature for me is the crash detection, as I work 12 hour nights and the hour drive home gets a bit hazy sometimes! But the 9 gets the blood oxygen, larger display, probably a longer supported processor etc and its generally only around £100 more. Heart says ultra, wallet says series 9!
