Just curious to see what other iPhone Pro and Pro Max 14 users are doing.

Mine is still going very strong, battery at 91%, purchased on launch day, works beautifully.

My only concern was and still is to this date weight and bulkness. With a thin case and a quality screen protector, it clocks the scale at 290 grams. In 3 years of ownership, I still haven’t gotten used to the weight and size.

I was set on upgrading next year, my money is on a much improved Air, so much that it will render the Pro obsolete for most users - like it happened with the MacBook Pro and Air. But after seeing how good the base 17 is, well, the temptation is…tempting. I will probably just wait. If I can resist the urge to spend for a few months or so, it will all be soon forgotten, and then it’s a countdown to sep 2026.

I'm upgrading from 14 PM. My battery is at 83%, I sometimes can't go a full 6 am to 11 pm cycle without having to charge. I want the action button lol.

The weight is an issue, and with my OtterBox Defender case, I think it's over 300 grams. I won't be updating this year, neither my iPhone nor iOS. I just updated to 18.7, and I think I'll stay here for a long time.

I have no real reason to upgrade my 14 Pro, other than I've got the itch to upgrade because new tech is always fun. I'll wait until the review of the 17 is out, particularly around the camera performance in low light before I do anything.

I almost never use the Telephone lens, so the 17 Pro is of no value anymore for me.

It doesn't help that the pricing in New Zealand is.. getting less justifiable.

I've been happy enough with the 14 Pro to have skipped a couple of product cycles without giving it much thought. But this year, it felt like the time was right.

And to my surprise, I find myself kind of excited by the new Air. It's sort of a push-pull thing — the new Pro line feels curiously off-putting to me, with peculiar color choices and a muscular design that doesn't strike me as altogether Apple-like. But this Air — though arguably not the most practical object in the world — seems like a lovely new gadget with old-school Apple appeal. So we'll see how it goes. And meanwhile my excellent son is waiting for the 14 Pro while there is still some life in it.
