I remember a while back, before I had upgraded to iOS4.0, I used a tweak in Cydia to make apps think that I was running iOS4. This would let me download apps that required iOS4 for reasons other than important ones.

Is there anything out there to fake iOS4.2?

Thanks.

Here you go: http://justindaigle.com/blog/?p=215 The directions do not state anything related to changing the build number, but you WILL need to change it. I did anyway for what I did.

Use this page to figure out the version and build number you need: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IOS_version_history

I did that just this week actually. I am on a 2g iPhone version 3.1.3 and there is an app in the apple app store that I wanted which only ran on 4.1 so I hacked into the version number plist, changed the version and build number, and PRESTO...I was then able to install the 4.1 only app. Afterwards, make sure you change the version number and build back to the original, or else you will only be able to use your phone in safe mode.
