My brother and I have both recently bought new MacBooks and are very disappointed with the new iMovie. iMovie HD or 6.0.1-.3 was so much easier to use. Is their anyway I can download the old version? Or do I have to stick with the new confusing one? :(

There have been many posts about this, but I'll humor your curiosity.

Short answer, there is no legal way to get iMovie 6. Apple has removed it from their servers.

Do you still have your old Tiger/Leapard DVD from your old Mac? You should be able to grab it off there, legally, as long as you don't have it installed on the old computer any more.

I am so f**king happy I kept iMovie HD 6.0.3. It it better than the new iMovie in my opinion. I use it all the time.

If you send me a Private Message with your email address, I may me able to help you out.

i am also very disappointed with the newer imovie. Im trying to find it like you are and i cant find a good download anywhere

imovie hd 6.0

i agree i movie 8.0 is lacking so much, not as detailed. anyone have any suggestions regarding imovie 6

i am also having the same problem. I recently gained an interest in video editing and have been trying it out on iMovie 08. I've heard iMovie HD is so much better and I don't want to invest in iMovie 09. Any suggestions or methods of how to download iMovie HD?

I wonder... If Apple "dumbed down" iMovie for the "average" user? I vaguely remember iMovie HD, I rarely used it.. From what I remember it seemed highly detailed and looked very "complex" almost as if it were a Pro application like Logic or Final Cut.

So there is something to think about, did Apple dumb down iMovie HD with iMovie 8.0 for the masses because they wanted things to be simpler?

Ditto. I'm currently taking a digital video production class and really need Imovie HD 6 for editing at home. My professor even recommended that I somehow acquire that version and use it instead of '08 or '09.
