I'm planning on getting a full spec 15in MBP to be used while I go out to sea and was wondering if there have been any issues that have came up with them. I know there was overheating issues with some MBP's but I have also read that the new 15in have two fans. I don't plan on doing anything other than watching videos, web browsing when available and maybe some programming. I would just hate to spend the money and have something come up while I'm at sea and be without entertainment for months.

I know a full spec 15in is overkill for what I want to use it for but space is limited and it'll be a gift to myself. Also I've been a windows user my entire life so I figure it's time to try out a mac.

I haven't had any issues with mine, similarly full-spec... the only time I've actually heard the fans is when in Windows and gaming (likely would do the same in MacOS and gaming but haven't gotten any there thus far) - I use it similarly to your intended uses (minus programming) and haven't noticed any heating issues related to those activities at all

I originally bought a 13" Sky Lake, and returned it for a 2017 Kaby. Both had light leaks/backlight bleeding. The 13" had a problem with both lower corners, and the 15 has a problem with all four corners
