Any problems with this external HD setup?

I have a MBP and an iMac and I need both backed up via time machine and an external file store with its own backup.

Here is what I came up with, will it work?

TM = Time machine
The file store is dasychained to the file store backup
both macs are connected to the filestore backup
160GB MBP has 250GB of space for TM backup
500GB iMac has 750GB of space for TM backup

Can both Macs access the file store at the same time?
