I'm thinking about purchasing my first "adult" RC car and wondered how many RC car owners there are around here. Any thoughts on good first cars that are actually in stock anywhere? Googling "best rc car" gives lots of results, but many cars listed in my price range (say, <$200, all in) are out of stock.

Any advice for what to look for in a first car? I won't be racing it. I'm leaning toward an RTR electric road car, but could be convinced to go nitro or off-road or a kit if it wouldn't be too difficult to put together. The look of the car is super important to me so I've thrown a lot of possibilities out just based on looks alone.

As a teenager I used to race electric RC’s. 1/10th off road. It was a fun but expensive hobby. But that was several years ago. Look for race venues near where you live and go talk to the participants. I’m sure they will be very helpful. Mist require some assembly and maintenance. But I learnt a lot about cars from those models.
