I have a 16G 3G running 3.1.2 that never got updated to 3.1.3. The baseband is still at 4.26.08. I plan on selling this phone eventually to upgade to an phone 4 but for the time being wouldn't mind updating to ios4 and jailbreaking. Is there any reason I should stay at 3.1.2? I posted my phone on craigslist and it seems people prefer 3.1.2 and 4.26.08 (i presume because it will be easier to jb). Thoughts?

If you've got your 3.1.2 SHSH on file, there's no reason not to upgrade to 4.0 using PwnageTool. You'll preserve your 04.26.08 baseband and can always downgrade if your buyer prefers it.

and if I don't have my 3.1.2shsh on file? I don't recall ever saving it in Cydia.
