I was big into Apple back in the 90's but have been with PC for the past 20 years.

Needed a laptop for Zoom meetings last Spring and thought it would be fun to try an Apple product again. Well, I sort of got addicted.

Purchased an mint A-Grade Late 2013 13" with an i7 and 16GB for $700 from Mac Of All Trades. Probably overpaid but I was a new Apple shopper with zero clue and was attracted to the refurbished and warranty they offered.

Month later I picked up a Late 2011 i5 13" for $200 after I started watching YouTube videos about the SSD upgrades. Wanted to tinker and have another Apple laptop with a few nicks that I could really use without feeling guilty about putting that first ding in. Installed a 240gb SSD and 8GB.

Then the mid-2012 15" unibody caught my attention, so I snagged a pretty nice example for $275 and threw in a 500gb SSD.

So now I have three MacBooks which is way overkill for what I need, but still trying to convince myself to hang onto the 2011 for whatever reason. And the bad news is I'm still looking for deals on marketplace.

I'm not even an "Apple guy" but the brand seems really addictive, anyone else suffer, and please persuade me to sell the 2011 so I don't become a hoarder..

Is that the model with the discrete GPU problems? I had a 2011 for a few months and I had to permanently disable the discrete GPU because otherwise my Mac would shut off after a few minutes.

but yes, it's time to upgrade. Get an M1 MacBook Pro or Air. I think you will find even the base model Air as a massive upgrade.
