any recommendations or concerns with upgrading to a 1TB internal HD in Macbook pro?

Whats a good 1TB HD to get?

Thanks

-Nick

I've had WD Scorpio Blue 1tb on my macbook pro 13" for a short while. It was way louder than the stock drive.

Thanks for the response guys!

So the 9mm Samsung will fit into my 15" unibody for sure?

Yes, HN-M101MBB is the one.

Nice drive. I look forward to a 7200rpm version... might take a while though.

SAMSUNG HM100UI <----I have this one, quiet and low power consumption..I didn't pick it I just went to the computer store and asked them to sell me the best 1TB internal for 80euro..and he handed me this one..

Unfortunately they gave you the cheaper three platter drive. It's not a bad drive but the HN-M101MBB is better: The data density is higher which leads to higher sequential speeds. Two platter drives have lower latency than three platter drives. Power consumption is also lower because it takes less energy to spin two instead of three platters.

Did you look at my signature? read write speeds are not really my concern..I don't really care which one is "better" .02w idle is low power consumption..and it hold docs music and movies just peachy..

*edit* the other day someone was showing and aja disk test, asking about r/w speeds and mine seemed to be like everyone else's 79ish write and 88ish read

Are there any 7200 RPM 1TB drives for a MacBook Pro that you would recommend?

They do not exist yet. We might see one in three to six months I guess.

Currently the best 7200rpm drives are 500GB Seagate XT Hybrid, 750GB Scorpio Black and Hitachi 750GB 7K750.

My 1TB Samsung drive arrives tomorrow (or, "later today" given the time) - I can't wait :D
