Im looking at possibly buying a replacement charger for my rMBP 2013 which uses a 60w magsafe 2 charger.

Looking around, the official charger is £79 but on Amazon Ive seen cheaper alternatives.

Is there anywhere where either a cheaper legitimate charger can be found or a cheaper alternative anyone can recommend?

None of the fakes on Amazon are worth burning your house down with. Quite frankly, someone should sue Amazon for listing these fakes as authentic apple brand chargers.

Stick with the Apple one from Apple directly.

Is it safe to use the 85w charger and I presume reputable resellers such as John Lewis are ok?

They may offer a two year warranty so I would rather buy from them if possible.

I don't know to be honest, but I wouldn't risk an 85W charger on the 13 inch rMBP...

I would think that reputable retailers would sell authentic Apple products.

Yes, it's perfectly safe to use an 85w charger with the 13" MBP. It will only draw what it requires.

Under no circumstances buy a fake/cheap charger. They're really not worth it.
