Im curious how much actual protection the bumper provides against drops, my guess is not much. but if you have had an experience or have read of one somewhere else, please post. thanks!

it should help. To break the glass, you likely need to have the impact hit towards the edge of the screen. Bumpers will prevent this from happening.
However, hardly anyone has their hands on Bumpers yet, so I've not heard of anyone dropping them yet.

I can't say from personal experience (dropping it) but I love the design of the bumper and feel much safer with it on as opposed to carrying it naked.
Went to grab the Wife's phone and it went flying about 6 feet.. SAVED by the bumper (hard wood floors)

That's reassuring. I remember reading the Engadget review and they actually said they were throwing it around with the bumper around. Specifically when they were talking about throwing it at walls and it didn't take any damage.
Bumper is pristine not even a smudge and I think it landed exactly on the bumper.
