Do you think it will get a spec bump or anything? I am debating on buying one today or waiting for the next sale. Best Buy has them for 1199 right now. Probably have another site price match to beat it if there won't be any rumor of a new model coming out

That will be years off. It will require an architectural design change to the CPUs. In the meantime the security hole will be fixed through software.
so its unlikely that this year the rmb would see a quad core? if not, I'll buy now. its just a quad core is a massive bump from dual as much as I would hate to wait.

Manager said he will make it easier for me. Gave me $100 discount, 1099 for brand new 8/256 grey 17 model. Plus being new now means my credit card doubled my manufacturer warranty to 24 months

Sorry to dampen your excitement but the Apple refurb store has them for $200+ off ($300+ in Canada). Are you talking about BestBuy's refurb's?
There is no way the next Core M will be quad core as there is not enough thermal dissipation for 4 cores. The next 13” MacBook Pro will likely be the quad-core “8th generation” chip, but that is a 15W processor that needs a fan to run at full speed.
Agreed. I haven't seen anyone predict a 4-core Y-series direct replacement for 8th gen. It will likely be higher clocked though, with a higher throttle threshold.
