It may just be my imagination but it seems like the screen doesn't retain smudges nearly as much as my ip4 did (AT&T ip4 that I got on launch day last year). I had to wipe that thing down all the time...the 4S hardly ever. Anybody else notice this? Or maybe I'm just not as oily with the colder weather lately.

Are both phones the same color? Black shows smudges...etc more. But either way, it's likely that over time the oleo-phobic screen coating on your 4 has worn off over time where as your 4s is a brand new phone with a brand new coating.

They're both black 32gb AT&T phones. I didn't realize the oleophobic coating wears off. So does that mean you have to be careful what you use to wipe down your screen and how often?

Can somebody answer this question...does the coating on the screen eventually wear off?
