Hey all --

Is there anyway to create sub-playlists with iTunes? I'm kinda picky when it comes to organizing my music, and instead of having a million playlists I wanted to know if I could organize them more efficiently by using root playlists for specific genres or situations.

I don't think that's possible.
You can organize the playlists in folders. But you can't create a "smart folder". Would be a nice feature though.

You can have your subplaylists as just a playlist and then place them in a folder in iTunes sidebar. If you click on the folder, you'll view all of the songs in the all of the playlists. If you click on the triangle next to the folder, it lists all the playlists in that folder and if you click on an individual playlist, well, you just view the items in that playlist.

Will that organization transfer over to my iPod?

You can effectively create Smart Playlists that are sub-playlists of any other playlist, just add the master "Playlist" as one of the rules, and add other rules to define the list. Depending on exactly what you have in mind, in terms of breaking down lists into sub-playlists...this could work for you.
