I have a 2014 rMBP, and I recently enquired on Apple Support chat about the delaminated screen/staingate issue. I was told that I should take it to a store for them to assess it. I know the program is (unofficially) over, but has anyone had any luck getting it replaced for free in 2021? It all seems ambiguous, and as I don't live in a city with a store I'd rather not spend that time just to be quoted a full price.

On a related note, does Apple Trade-in lower their quote due to staingate? (this is the only reason I'm actually bothering)

The program isn’t over, but it is limited to 4 years from your original date of purchase. Unless you purchased that 2014 MBP in May of 2017 (or later) then you are out of luck.

I recently took in my 2017 15” MBP for the coating issue and they replaced the screen for free. (Originally purchased in early 2018.)

Thanks for the reply, I expected as much. I guess I'll hang on for as long as possible, then try the DIY method.
