Any success with Crucial M500 firmware update to MU03 ?

Hello, I just noticed that the Crucial support site has an update of the M500 firmware to version MU03.

I wonder if anyone has successfully updated theirs directly on a Macbook.

There are some posts on the Crucial forums with people not being able to boot the supplied ISO image off an superdrive or USB stick. I do not much care for the idea of moving the SSD to a Windows computer just to do the firmware upgrade.

Mine is a 2011 Early 15 MBP....

Thanks for any info, Paul.

On a 2012 cMBP, I had no problem updating the firmware via an external DVD drive. The Windows version also works in Bootcamp mode, if you run that.

I guess I should have tried it first, before asking on the forum. Turns out it was an easy and painless process. I burned the downloaded ISO file in Disk Utility, rebooted with the C key held, a Linux version booted, detected the SSD. I acknowledged that I do want to update, and maybe a minute later the process successfully finished.

And as seems to be the case with any such update ( be it OS, SSD firmware or camera firmware ), my Mac now feels faster. :)

Paul.
