Hi

just got a MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Early 2013), going loco trying to find accessories to connect a thunderbolt ( i guess v1) to a USB hub type so i can expand my USB ports.

I was really surprised to only find Thunderbolt C, does anyone here own a MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Early 2013) and have a thunderbolt hub set up?

There are numerous Thunderbolt and Thunderbolt2 dock with USB ports...however, the absolute cheapest ones I know of start at about $160 and only give you two or three ports. There are also Thunderbolt to USB 3 adapters, but these are still around $80 IIRC. If you are looking for more USB ports, is there any reason in particular you aren't looking at a powered USB hub? (It's much more economical.)

portability is the main reason, i cant connect to power on the go, for example connecting a music keyboard.

what you really need is a male tb2 to female tb3 adapter and then you can use any usb c dock but I can't find one anywhere.

The only bus-powered TB-->USB adapter I know of is this

All of the other Thunderbolt hubs I have personally used require their own DC power.

Would a passive, bus-powered USB hub like this work?
