Any tips on removing scratches....

.....from the outside case of a blackbook? I've got a supply of applesauce polish but I'm afraid to try it; I think it may leave swirl marks on that particular finish, or perhaps over polish it.

Has anyone had any success getting scratches out of the blackbook case?
