I know that hard drives are often based on luck - I have a Seagate 1TB which I bought in 2008 or 2009 that's still ticking away while a friend of mine would never touch a Seagate with a ten foot pole saying how it has died on him plenty.

Having said that, I recently found out how Toshiba sells external hard drives. Can anyone provide any testimony about them?

I have several tosh 500gb 2.5" USB drives. So far, they've been fine - but most makes are, until you get one that goes wrong

That is true. I don't think I've had a hard drive go bad on me yet, so I'm pretty impartial to brands.
