Is there some way to backup all the text messages including voice texts from your phone onto the computer? (that is free?) I want to upgrade my phone, and want to make sure all my texts are backed up (and maybe viewable from the computer.

Normal iTunes backup works fine. But you can not view them I think.

Anyone have any alternatives where I can view the text messages and listen to the audio clips and view any images shared? The last thing I want is to get the next iPhone and lose all of it... :/

Use iTunes backup then restore from backup with the new device. Everything will still be there.

Is it possible to selectively restore only the iMessages part of the backup file? Or do you have to restore the entire backup?

If there is a way to say, view the backup iMessages content on the computer/mac, that would be better (saves me more space on the next phone for new messages).

It'll restore the entire backup but you can delete messages or photos now then backup and it'll backup what you have currently.

I know there's software to view photos from a backup but it's not free. I'm not sure if there's any software to view texts.
