Any way to browse photos/videos on iPhone from OS X with Finder?

I would like an easy way to copy the photos and videos from my iPhone on my Mac without having to use the card reader application or iPhoto to import the data.

I actually use Adobe Lightroom for pictures so it would be more convenient for me to just browse and copy the pictures, similar to what can be done when using an iPhone on a windows machine.

Does anyone know of a way to do this without jail breaking the phone, etc?

I don't think you can do it in Finder, but it's pretty easy to browse and copy-paste in iPhoto.

I guess it wouldn't bother me if the PC didn't have actually more functionality in this regard than Macs.

This is probably one of the most overlooked and least used apps in OSX. Takes seconds to download all or some of the vids and pics....I use it all the time.

I've tried that and, although the program appears in the status bar, my iPhone never mounts.

Yes, image capture works well, it's just an extra step or five compared to if the phone could be mounted and browsed directly.

Did you try selecting the other option from the status menu bar? I know it works on my hackintosh (3G v3.0)

You may have to reboot or unplug and replug the iphone back in.

This is brutally frustrating. Image Capture does not recognize the phone and I get a pop up window with nothing in it except for irrelevant options. When I click Options the app crashes.

Why should I buy a third party app when I have spent so much money on an iMac that SHOULD just work?

I am surprised and frustrated that Apple misses somethings that I think are obvious. Browsing my pictures on the phone directly is a great idea!

1. Go to the camera roll and delete any photo you didn't shoot with the camera. Anything you saved from e-mail, screenshots, etc. If you need them, email them to yourself or something.

2. Unplug the iPhone from USB after those photos are erased.

3. Replug in the iPhone. It should launch iPhoto normally and be seen in Image Capture.

That's a cool app! I had to jailbreak my phone to pull over sms files, but this does it really well!
