i've got sources listed in the 'sound' output list that i don't want there. is there a way (official, or something more involved) to control that list? a minor annoyance (but can't figure a way around it)...

anyone?

brilliant, thanks! never checked that, and i spend time in that audio folder, dealing with Logic Pro stuff. the 'HAL' folder, named after the computer in 2001, no doubt... 🤔

EDIT: and did not change anything, on either of my macs. no longer a fix in ventura perhaps? hmmmm

Did you restart after deleting the plugins?

i did, on both macs. and those sources are still listed. i also searched for them by name (with find any file) and found nothing...

I wonder if running the standard or optional OnyX maintenance tasks would fix it? Sounds like some sort of cache that needs to be cleared?

i might check that out, but it's not urgent, really.. just annoying. would be great if apple gave us some way to manage our sound devices... thanx for your help tho!

They probably don't provide a UI way to do that because, like you said, it's a pretty minor "issue" that's really not going to affect 99.9% of users' experience. But I can definitely relate to being anal about such matters myself!
