Hi so other bands show step count on the dial face. Is it even possible in s4 watch on ios 6? Simple task but I could not find any method.

Anyone else know of any app that'll create a display of step counts on the watch?

What's wrong with Strangedream's suggestion? Based on the App Store info it provides a step count complication, which is what you're looking for.

I use StepCard, works well.

Does stepcard work in OS 6 and does it update in realtime on the watch face?
No step counter will update and count in real-time on the Apple Watch face as a complication the way a Fitbit does. They will update if you tap on the complication.

watchOS doesn't update face complications in real-time. There's always some delay. I think things like step counters may auto-update in 5-20 minute increments. It's just the way watchOS was designed. Exceptions to that are complications that show the time (since the time clock is an always-running background process).

However, and I'm not white knighting Apple here, is it important that step count be updated in real-time? You'd be better off following a properly-set calorie goal activity ring than an arbitrary number of steps... depending on your pace, your steps likely will not actually generate a significant amount of calorie burn.

I may walk 10K steps in a day, but if I do it at a "walking pace," my heart rate will never go above 75 and it won't make any significant contribution to my fitness goal.

All the apps suggested don’t work on os 6. Secondly no real time update is a dealbreaker..

I call BS

i know pedometer++ does, and i'm sure the others do also.

They might not work how you want them, with a up to the second step count on the face

but if you're constantly looking at the watch checking your step count while walking, i suggest you buy a helmet of some kind so you don't hit your head on things.

if you need second by second updates, having any of the apps on screen will update in real time.

Duffy works just fine on OS6. I use it myself.

But if you must have real-time step counts, then you’ll need to look at FitBit or a Samsung Galaxy Watch. Enjoy.

We know the noise level can be updated realtime as a complication, hopefully apple can let 3rd parties use this in the future.

That's strange coz Duffy is not working on my Series 4 Watch OS 6.. it gives 0 as steps counted. BTW after how long is the step count on the dial face updated?

it should ask you if you want to allow health access when first launching.(it's easy to accidentally dismiss, I did)

if not, on your phone, you need to go to the main settings app (not the watch app), then privacy -> motion and fitness.
make sure the apps are enabled. (they show up there even if not installed on the phone)

you can see the same setting on your watch, but not change it.

it should update at the very least every 5 minutes.

So far I've tried Duffy, Stepwise, Stepcard and Pedometer++ and only Stepcard is working consistently, meaning updating the status at certain intervals albeit only working on the round complication.

I don't have any luck on the others as I need to tap on the watch app to get the step count updated. I'm on WatchOS 6.1B3.
