This is a long shot, and I'm assuming it's hopeless, but I figured I'd try any way...
I restored my iPhone 3G earlier today after making backup, and like an idiot didn't copy the pictures from the camera roll to my computer before doing so. After restoring to a fresh copy of the firmware, I realized what I had done and tried restoring from the backup to see if by chance the photos would still be there... and it says either the backup is corrupt or incompatible with my device... so I can't even seem to do that to see if I can recover the photos.
Is there anyway to open the backup file and extract usable data from it? Does anyone even know where the backups are stored?
I do have most of the photos backed up in iPhoto, but I don't have any from the last week or so since I hadn't manually done this... so not all is lost, and it's not like these were critical at all anyway... it just sucks losing stuff like that...
