I want to have the email app fetching only when the iPad is awake. Is this possible to set up? Also how much battery power does it actually take to fetch say every 15 mins even when asleep?

No it will only get email when you tell it to.

Just set it to manual or one hour fetch. The battery drain on one hour fetch is minimal. The check it manually in between as needed.

Saves battery tho or could just use airplane mode when the iPads not in use
