Just like the iPhone will charge through both its 5w charger and slower through a USB port, and the iPad will charge through its 10w charger and slower through the iPhone's 5w charger...

Is it possible to change a setting in a plist somewhere to make it accept a charge from unsupported USB ports, however little power they provide? It'd be good to be able to at least maintain battery percentage in my car where I have a dock connector, and have it do the same on my desk while in the dock.

I also would like to know this.

It will charge through a low power usb port when the unit is in sleep mode. Beyond that, I doubt its possible to change, probably a lower level hardware thing. :dunno:

I've got a Belkin car adapter with a Scosche iPhone 3GS adapter connected; when the iPad is connected it says "not charging" but does actually charge, albeit slowly.
