I have a 2010 macbook pro with a second hard drive put in in place of the optical bay and I the setup, but I'm starting to need a more powerful updated machine cpu wise. It has a 500gb SSD and 1.5tb disc hard drive. I'd like to be able to have something comparable in terms of storage but I'm not sure if it's possible. Do I just have to wait until Apple comes out with 2tb SSD's (or maybe a fusion drive)? Any chance that will happen anytime soon?

Since you say you have a 2010 Macbook Pro, yes, you can install a 1TB SSD in place of the original HDD, and one in the DVD bay. At 7mm high, there should not be any mounting issues.

If you want an HDD, Seagate has 9.5mm high ones now.

Sorry, just reread your request.

Nope, no 2TB SSD yet by Apple, and no room to install anything special. It would have to fit in the existing space of current Macbooks.
