I have some old High Sierra installers , but as their certificates have expired recently, they don't work any longer .
From the app store I only get the stub installer .

I'd like to update from Mavericks, and skip the APFS conversion of my SSD, so I guess I need the full thing to proceed .
I've spent hours searching for a solution, but just can't seem to find a way to get that full installer downloaded in any way .

Thanks !
I actually managed to get the full installer from the app store, when I tried from a different Mac that had High Sierra installed already .

For future reference, just delete the old installers from your Mac and empty the trash. The App Store should download the full installer, then.

If you have any existing installer anywhere on any drive on your Mac, it will not download a fresh copy.

I'm aware of that, you can't have any installers on a mounted volume when trying to download a fresh one .
Actually the app store will not even give you a download option in that case , so you can't get any installer of that OSX version .

You can get installers by searching www.apple.com/support for the version you want.

Those installers are only for updates and fixes for an existing version of macOS (for example, to update from 10.13.1 to 10.13.6). The only way to install macOS on a blank Mac or upgrade macOS from one major version to another (such as from 10.12 to 10.13) is to download the installer from the Mac App Store.
