i want to start itunes in full screen cover mode, not all of the time, maybe from a shortcut in windows but not sure if its possible. anyone know how to do this?

i dont know a lot about applescript, but couldn't you just set up a script that will do that for you? that way you can click on iTunes to open iTunes then click on the applescript to open iTunes with cover flow. might work if you knew what you were doing.

I don't know how to do that, but I also don't find it very practical.

have my pc hooked up to my tv, and want to use it on my TV and stereo, does exactly what i want, scrolls through my cd collection. press play on the remote, bada bing.

just gotta find a way to do it.

I have no idea, but I want to know if I'm the only person that thinks cover flow is lame?

But Why? Don't you like seeing the album covers in their uber-pixelated glory?

Applescript for fullscreen cover view

Give this applescript a try:-

tell application "iTunes"
activate
set minimized of front browser window to false
end tell
tell application "System Events"
tell process "iTunes"
tell menu bar 1
tell menu bar item "View"
tell menu "View"
click menu item "Cover Flow View"
click menu item "Full Screen"
end tell
end tell
end tell
end tell
end tell

You need to make sure that in system preferences -> 'universal access' 'enable access for assistive devices' is checked.

Hope that helps,

Gareth

I've been looking for a way to start iTunes in fullscreen coverflow for while too.

I have iTunes on the 7-inch touchscreen in the front of my HTPC, and it looks great in fullscreen!

It's also great for my young kids, they can just tap on the screen to flip through the albums to whatever kiddie-music they'd like to hear.

Of course you have to have all the album art in place and have everything organised into albums, but if you've grown up with LP's and CD's that seems logical to me anyway.

If anyone ever finds a simple hack to start iTunes in fullscreen coverflow (for Windows :D ), please post it here.

Thanks!

(the attached pic shows a HTPC, just imagine iTunes on the screen ;-) )
