I can no longer have folders be listed at the top of finder windows - they are always buried under documents.
In Lion and MLion I was able to modify the InfoPist.strings file to put a space in front of "folders' as per these instructions, but this file doesn't contain the same things in Mavericks.

I also downloaded Xtrafinder, which gives the folder on top capability, along with others, but folders on top doesn't work on Mavericks (I'm not the only one, FB support has other such reports).
While I'm at it, does anyone know how to make Office for Mac follow the Finder settings you use in Finder? Office for Mac will not even list files by Kind, so it's impossible to get folders even grouped together, they show up in an alphabetic list with all other files.
Thanks in advance for any help folks.
