(I see related threads but didn't see the answer pop out).

I'm one of many who tried a firmware update:mad: on this My Book studio (1Tb) external drive and after shutting down the computer, unplugging everything, recycling power on the drive, replugging, I'm getting no response from the My Book studio.

Its just over a year old and is the 1 Tb version. The word on the street seems to be that the firmware updater has some flaws.

Does anyone know if there is a way to reanimate this unit (assuming the problem isn't with the drive itself)? Or am I stuck with getting the drive and its data out of the unit, and running far, far away?

I saw some threads suggesting that the old firmware can be 'flashed' back to a related unit, but this was all Windows based and seemed a bit complicated to boot.

Thx for any tips,

Wayne

Probably not. Usually firmware updates on an HDD are final. Chances are, it is "bricked". Try Googling the issue a bit, maybe someone found a way to do so.
