Any way to recover videos from backup?

I didn't realize that videos don't upload to photo stream so when I exchanged my 5s on Monday for a new one, my video clips that I took of a concert Sunday night are gone :(. I did a manual backup of the phone to my computer before taking the phone in on Monday but when I restored from it, the videos still were not there. I'm thinking that the backup probably didn't back them up either but I just want to double check if it's possible... not sure if it works the same way as recovering photos from a backup?
