I tried searching google and on here but couldn't seem to find a concrete answer. The phone shows the boot up screen (white screen black apple logo) and then goes dark. Repeat, repeat, repeat. Before we go DFU/totally wipe it, is there any way to save the stuff on the phone (photos, texts, etc) ? Any third party apps I can use, etc? (also, I don't think its a battery issue it really seems like its software)
EDIT: should've mentioned they don't have a backup, which is why this is a huge issue.

Thanks for any help.

Have you tried updating with iTunes? What comes up if it's plugged in?

Nothing. Just shows apple logo then shuts down. I put it into recovery mode, then plugged in to itunes and got it to recognize. Tried to update and then got error 45.

How did the phone get in this state? If you have iCloud photos enabled then photos could be stored there.
