Hi all,

The screen on my mums iPhone 5 has stopped working. The screen turns on like normal, all colors are normal, but it doesn't respond to touch at all. No visible screen damage. No screen repair.

She already bought an iPhone SE, but my job is to save the photos from the old phone.
- iCloud was not turned on (I invited her to my family account on her new phone)
- It has not been connected to any computer before
It runs iOS 11, which requires approval from the phone when connecting to a computer.
When I tried to connect it to my Macbook, the approval message is seen on her iPhone, but I can't click it.

Is there anything I can do except paying for a new screen? I really don't want to pay for a new screen.
I called Apple Support but the person didn't know any way to save the photos. Is he right? Does Store have any magic hardware/software?

You will need to replace the screen so that you can connect to iTunes, trust the computer etc. A replacement screen for the iPhone 5 isn't that expensive and if you only plan to get the data off, you can buy something of lesser quality (as long as it works). You can also re-sell the (now working) phone via Craigslist and recoup your money if cost is the issue.
