Any way to sell iPhone 3g and get a new one?

I was just thinking, Im on a family plan so can I sell my iphone on ebay or something then go buy a new one at Apple using another available upgrade on my account?

Would I be able to get it onto my number somehow?
 
take your SIM card out of your current 3G iPhone, sell, go get another 3G iPhone from AT&T/Apple, put YOUR SIM card in it, and throw away your Auxilery line's old SIM card, put in the new SIM card they gave you into the old basic phone, and activate iPhone through iTunes
